More and more companies are chosing to outsource internal management system audits. It has become very difficult for companies to maintain a pool of qualified auditors. Organizations have become so lean it is tough for auditors to find time to do a good job.
Also, companies are finding it tough to keep up with their legal requirements because on site staff do not have the time needed to stay on top of changing regulations and then need to find time to “periodically” evaluation their compliance.
These two resource challenges can manifest themselves as non-conformances during your certification audits and are often not fixed because the real root cause is not addressed.
To help our clients meet these resources needs effectively we have developed the Integrated EMS Compliance Assessment (IECA). In the time most firms use to complete the internal audit, EHS management Strategies will also document an evaluation of applicable legal requirements. Our highly competent staff will review both management system and legal/other requirements concurrently and prepare an integrated report. This report will meet the requirements of ISO 14001 4.5.2 and 4.5.5. We will typically spent 1/2 to 1 day offsite reviewing EMS / permits and then another 2 to 3 days on site to complete the evaluation. The result is a complete internal audit and assessment of identified legal requirements.
If this sounds like a program that could benefit your EMS please contact us to discuss.
